Slime Presents is thrilled to announce its latest initiative, “Slime Around The World,” a curated series of foreign language films, supported by Film Hub North. This exciting series is designed for both World Cinema enthusiasts and for those wanting to dip their toes in and celebrate culture from around the world.

Kicking off on October 1st with This Is Not A Burial, It’s A Resurrection (2019), the series brings together global stories with the help of local curators. The first film, chosen by Mosa Mpetha who works closely with Hyde Park Picture House with her Cinema Africa! programme, offers a poignant narrative from Lesotho, exploring themes of resilience and community in the face of displacement.

Next, on October 15th, Circus Of Life (2019), selected by Amandeep Dhillon, will captivate viewers with its powerful exploration of societal expectations in Pakistan. This critically acclaimed drama, although banned in its home country, is celebrated worldwide for its candid portrayal of tradition versus modernity.

The series concludes on October 29th with A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014), a cult classic horror from Iran, selected by the Slime team. Just in time for Halloween, this film combines elements of horror, noir, and Western genres to create a unique cinematic experience that challenges traditional narratives.

All screenings will take place at The Tetley in Leeds, with doors opening at 19:00. Each film will be introduced by the respective curator, offering insights into the selection process and the film’s cultural significance.
