Birmingham audiences will have the opportunity to experience the critically acclaimed feature film Footprints on Water at a special screening at the Mockingbird Cinema on Saturday 6 June 2026 with cast and crew present. The screening will be followed by an exclusive live Q&A with the film’s director Nathalia Syam, writer Neetha Syam alongside cast members Antonio Aakeel and Dave Kukadia hosted by Pradeep M.
This screening is especially meaningful as Footprints on Water was filmed in Birmingham, with locations across the city forming an important backdrop to the story. The return to Birmingham for this special screening and Q&A marks a homecoming for the film and its cast and creative team.
Footprints on Water is a moving and timely drama exploring themes of migration, identity, displacement and resilience through an emotionally powerful human story. The film has received international recognition for its sensitive storytelling, compelling performances and social relevance. The film brings together actors from both India and the UK including internationally acclaimed actor Adil Hussain, known for his performances in Life of Pi, The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Star Trek: Discovery. The film also stars versatile celebrated actors Nimisha Sajayan (The Great Indian Kitchen, Chithha and DNA), Danny Sura (Rani Rani Rani, IB 71 and Out of Time), Antonio Aakeel (Slow Horses, Tomb Raider reboot and Eaten by Lions) and Dave Kukadia (Retreat, Patient 52 and Return).
The post-screening conversation will give audiences a unique opportunity to hear directly from the filmmakers and cast about the inspiration behind the project, the creative process, and the film’s continuing impact with audiences around the world.
