Penguin Michael Joseph are publishing Rooza by Nadiya Hussain on 16 January 2025. Penguin Michael Joseph bought World Rights. This will be Nadiya’s tenth book with Penguin Michael Joseph.

During the month of Ramadhan, the long hours of daylight fasting mean that when mealtimes do arrive, food takes on new significance, as families come together to break their fast while observing the customs of the period and reflecting on their faith. Meals become an event, planned and anticipated, a chance to revisit favourites, embrace the traditional, or try new things.

Rooza is Nadiya Hussain’s culinary tribute to the holy month, taking the reader on an exploratory journey of Muslim cuisine, and shining a light on the rituals, traditions and incredible variety of dishes from across the Islamic world. The recipes are inspired by countries that have worshippers who observe Ramadhan, and foods that are enjoyed by them all year round and during this holy month. With main meal and dessert inspiration for each of the 30 days, plus a selection of glorious feasting recipes ideal for the Eid festivities, this is a beautiful and timeless book to treasure, gift and return to year after year.

Nadiya Hussain said: “For me as a mum and as the head of the kitchen, what we eat during the holy month of Ramadhan is so important. It is this month that binds us as a family, intertwines us and holds us together through faith, worship, dedication and the meal we share at the end of another day. After not having not eaten from sunrise, what I lay on the table at sunset really matters to me. It has to be nutritious, filling and, most of all, it has to be delicious. From my table and my family, to you and yours: I hope that these recipes will bring you joy and keep you feeling excited about each meal you lay on the table.”

Ione Walder, Non Fiction Publisher at Penguin Michael Joseph, said: “This is such a special, personal book from Nadiya and one we are incredibly proud to be publishing. It has been a joy to work together to spin her recipes into a beautiful, inspirational resource that can be used year after year by those who observe Ramadhan, while offering a journey of discovery to those who don’t.”
